    FAQs about .ECO

How would I become .eco registered website?

    • We are presently only considering companies
    • One would need to have a Environmental Management Program
    • A CEM/CSR person with full power
    • A binding contract with CP Connextion permitting 24/7/365 insight
    • A Company sponsored online platform for consumers, employees, stakeholders and management can find solutions
    • Fees have not been determined, but it would be all inclusive( hosting, certification, monitoring and feedback)

Can one have a domain outside of a .eco domain?

Of course you can in fact it will be required. CP Connextion in our attempt to offer the highest quality of service will not be a rubber stamp for green washing.Companies can lose their .eco domain name for not following through with their projections over the course of three years. They can also lose it for other environmental improprieties. All which will be outlined in a legal contract.

    Where will .eco be offered?

It will be offered by the designated registered hosting partner we intend to use. We have no intentions of allowing any and all of the registrars to release the domain extension otherwise there would be no difference between .eco and say for instance a .com or a .biz. We gave it considerable thought and elected to go this route. It would also insure that there would not be any instances of cybersquatting because all the .ecos would be under one roof and server domain. Which makes it ultimately safer and more secure.

How would we ensure that the companies would be doing what is environmentally safe and transparent?

All the companies desiring .eco as a domain extension would sign contracts permitting CP Connextion to patch into their computers to monitor their business transactions, energy and water usage, and shipping logistics.

We would also monitor the open forum with keywords which demand attention. Management in a narrow focus does not see that all is not right. In that sense we become a partner in insuring their vitality in an ever open society thanks to the internet.

How much would it cost to become a .eco company?

The cost will be determined based upon the number of employees and the industry/service one is involved in.
Obviously the larger the company the more employees and the more dependent one is upon energy intensive manufacturing and transportation.  We are looking at creating incentives to propel companies to reduce their carbon foot print and natural resource usage so that theoretically a company could operate under the .eco umbrella and have no fees!

Can I apply now, before 2010?

Yes, we are accepting pre-registration pending ICANN approval.
